haven | together we rise

Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving. Ours is no caravan of despair. — Rumi

I've noticed a lot of us can barely catch our breath lately.

The doomscrolling that won't stop. The fresh horror every time you check your phone. Watching everything you thought was solid dissolve overnight—rights, protections, the basic agreements that held us together.

People are leaving the country. People are stockpiling medications. People are having serious conversations about whether it's safe to exist as themselves anymore.

This isn't normal stress. This is surviving something that keeps escalating.

We need a haven. A refuge. A place to remember we're not doing this alone.

Haven | Together We Rise is a two-week experience of sanctuary where we remember what the chaos has made us forget:

  • that you can feel safe in your own body, even when the world isn't safe.

  • That your power is still here.

  • That you're held by something larger than this moment.

  • That you belong.

I'm Dr. Scott Mills and I've spent 20 years teaching people how to stay grounded when the world feels like it's falling apart. Not because I'm above this—I'm in it too. I wake up at 4am. I doomscroll. I feel the rage and helplessness.

But I also know what helps. I've guided tens of thousands of people through crisis—personal trauma, collective collapse, the pandemic. I know these practices work because I rely on them myself.

I See You

I see how tired you are. I see the weight you're carrying—watching what's happening in the world, trying to stay present to it, trying to know what to do.

Your nervous system is exhausted. It's been sounding alarms for so long it doesn't know how to rest anymore.

And if you grew up in chaos—addiction, abuse, volatility—your body recognizes this state. This is the hypervigilance you learned young. It kept you alive then. But it's not sustainable now.

Here's the truth: Your alarm system is working correctly. The problem isn't you. The danger is real. Your body is responding to what's actually happening.

But we can't function—much less resist—from collapsed nervous systems. We need access to our resourcefulness. Our clarity. Our ability to care for each other and act together.

And we can't get there alone. We need community. We need co-regulation—the biological reality that our nervous systems calm each other down. That's why isolation makes everything worse. That's why we need each other to survive this.

This is a radical act. An act of resistance against injustice and a declaration that you still control your own body, your own breath, your own mind. And for many of us—queer folks, trans people, immigrants, people of color, for anyone the system is trying to erase—our mere existence is an act of resistance.

We rise together. Not as a slogan. As survival.

I've noticed a lot of us holding our breath lately. We have felt powerless or afraid, angry or depressed. In so many ways, it is a hard time to be alive and yet it's the only one we get. And we have to live it.

We need a haven, a refuge, a place to breathe together and connect.

Here's the Invitation

Haven | Together We Rise is a two-week sanctuary where we practice four movements together—fundamental shifts in how you relate to safety, power, connection, and belonging.

Home Base – A space inside yourself that's calm, inviolate, peaceful whenever you need it. (Buddhists call this higher mind.) This is what lets you keep showing up when everything is trying to break you. When the news makes you want to scream or hide, this is where you return.

Inner Sanctuary – Your power. Your resourcefulness. Your agency. You are stronger than you think. Your existence alone is an act of resistance. This is where you remember you're not powerless—even when they want you to feel powerless.

Ancient Wisdom – What's been holding humans since we came down from the trees. The oceans. The ancient forests. The enduring mountains. The rhythm of life itself. You're not the first person to face tyranny. You're held by what came before.

Unshakeable Belonging – The bone-deep truth that you are not separate, you are never alone. A felt belonging you may have never experienced before. The antidote to their strategy of isolation. When you feel this, you can't be divided from your people.

These four movements together help your brain find its way home—where your thoughts are clear, where your emotions inform you but don't run you, where you can rest and see a way forward.

What You'll Receive

The program is designed to be like one big warm neural hug that helps you feel safe again. The only homework is listening to meditations that guide you home to yourself.

You'll have:

  • A morning ritual you design for yourself (a quick way to wake up and get your brain running safe)

  • An evening sleep meditation designed to lull you into deep, restful sleep

  • Four live Zoom calls—Feb 2,4,9 and 11 - about an hour each. I'll teach the core movement, we'll practice together, we'll have time to connect as community and space for Q&A. The practice portions are recorded and shared. The community conversation and Q&A stay private to protect everyone's safety.

  • A private WhatsApp group to connect, ask questions, and support each other. I'll answer questions as I'm able.

We Find Our Way Out Together

“Out beyond right or wrong, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” ~ Rumi

I don't know if we can make it three more years if we keep collapsing into ourselves, losing our sense of safety and feeling all alone in the world.

I do know that when we find our sense of strength, when we remember our deep belonging, when we let ourselves fill up with the life-giving resources that can sustain us—we open a doorway for new possibilities.

Together.

And when we join our strength to each other, when we tell each other's stories, when we hold each other's tears and celebrate each other's joys, we are liberated in ways that those who seek to control and destroy can't begin to understand.
